The nationwide program  called "Wreaths Across America" has squadron members finding sponsors for wreaths through door-to-door and event sales.

Wreaths Across America™ is a nonprofit organization whose origins date to 1992 when Maine businessman Morrill Worcester started an annual laying of wreaths ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

By early 2007, with so many requests for cemetery wreaths, the Worcesters reached out to the community and the nonprofit group Wreaths Across America™ was formed. As a result, wreath-laying ceremonies are held in all 50 states as well as 24 overseas cemeteries, including Normandy Beach.

Two types of wreaths were sold this year. The Wreaths across America type honor our fallen and deceased veterans and are placed on their gravesittes. "Tribute" wreaths honor active duty and veteran servicemen and women and  are meant to be displayed at homes and places of business.

One-third of the proceeds from the wreath sales are put towards our Civil Air Patrol cadet activities and scholarships.

thumb_IMG_0351 At this year's Volleyball competition South East Minnesota Dragons placed fourth out of 19 teams. The squadron showed an enormous amount of teamwork and they reaped the reward for their efforts. Last year was the first time the Minnesota wing had heard from this little squadron, but in two years the Dragons have placed third and fourth at the Volleyball competition. The Dragons are beginning to make a name for themselves in the wing, and the whole state looks to them as the fastest developing squadron of leaders. I had the opportunity to lead this squadron in the previous two years of volleyball competition, and all I want to say is, "I have done the least to recieve these two awards, the cadets in this squadron worked together and raised each other up to prove their talent." I am proud to be a part of this squadron. A senior member told me once, "this is such a nice and mature group of young men and women." Keep up the good work Dragons, and "look to the sky!"
